Doing What Works For You!
The thing is... when you're 15 to 20 lbs. away from GOAL and your personal goals in Lifetime and Maintenance, you are like a fearless lion who's out to defend her baby cub. You have your game face on and you KNOW WHAT YOU WANT! If you're anything like me, I hate to waste 2 very valuable things: time and money. And that's even more significant to you when you only have a limited amount of both of those (hello non-financially stable 24-year old with a stack of student loans and bills to pay off!). I thank the GOOD LORD for Blessing me with a gift that I see being WORTH thanking Him for for 10,000,000 LIFETIMES!!! He gave me a brand new life that I never had and 2 years to get off the weight I wish was never gained (but thank God for helping me and turning it into my Lifetime Testimony). YOU can do it! We ALL can do it, because it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that a few small changes over time sure do add up! One day at a time is all we need, and you're WORTH the effort it takes to live Healthy!! YOU'RE WORTH LIVING FOR!!
So life gets hectic, we all get stressed out, but we MUST take that 1 or 2 extra steps in a day to Pray to God about our feelings and ask for Help when we need it (it's Okay! He LOVES you!), and to also plan a healthy meal or snack at-home or on-the-go to keep us satiated throughout the day. Also we have to think before we eat out at restaurants and other food places and make sure we stay accountable to our lovely bodies and our goals by enjoying ourselves in moderation and writing it all down (or following Simply Filling). And of course, we've got to get up and move a little more one baby day at a time. 10 minute power walks, cleaning up around the house, or jumping rope in place are all great ways to show appreciation to our bodies throughout the day. Finding activities we love from Kickboxing and Zumba to Belly Dancing and Sports are all ways to keep fitness fresh and never boring. If we're never bored, our bodies are never bored, so find what works and keeps things exciting for YOU!
So we know all that, right? But what happens when you've been on your journey for a long time already and you still feel "stuck"? Well my healthy friends, I can officially say I know how that feels! Recently I've been just altogether frustrated with my slow progress or small gains at the scale, and also with my love affair with AL (Active Link) and how he calculates my points (that I eat sometimes). Where the weight loss is concerned I know that I've been a track-a-holic for 2 years, so apart of me sort of needs a break from obsessing over points, and my body strongly agrees. So I'm afraid a little, but I'm also thankful to God for another option called Simply Filling. Not sure how I might do or if there'll be any improvements at all with my WL, but I know that someday I hope to be able to eat healthy, wholesomely, and mindfully without tracking points as I get further along in Lifetime with Weight Watchers. So right now is just a trial and I'll be sure to keep you updated, but my other real concern is how helpful is Active Link really?
I see AL as being SO GREAT for some people on maintenance who want to continue challenging themselves and improving their active goals, however for weight loss mode members, it can be a bit too frustrating sometimes in terms of the actual points that it gives you. Sometimes I feel like I've earned more than it says I've earned (i.e.- it says I earned 25 APs, and manually it may have been at least 30!), and I feel like sometimes I'm not eating enough, or if I do eat some APs, I've eaten too much and I end up gaining (i.e.- this week I ate about 13 APs in addition to my weeklies but thought I earned enough activity to 'make it up' lol, guess not! :P). So needless to say, I'm about ready to go back to basics, beginner status and consider tracking those APs manually for at least until I reach Goal.
Please share your ideas for how you get out of a WL slump.
Be Encouraged and Yes We Can!! :)
